Skill Development for Tribal Youths

In our endeavour to build an inclusive and an equitable community, Govardhan Annakshetra is working towards the overall development of tribal youth living across Maharashtra’s Palghar district.

Through our multi-pronged strategy, we have already upskilled thousands of rural youths, many of them 10th grade drop-outs, by training them in white-collar and blue-collar jobs thereby making them self-dependent and employable. These skills are decided on the basis of their education, technical appetite and capabilities, market requirements and current economic trends, and include tailoring, welding, extrusion, electrical and rural technologies.

Women Empowerment Programs

Empowering 2500 tribal women at grassroots by providing functional, digital and financial literacy thus enabling them with entitlement and self-employment.

Women Empowerment Programs

At Govardhan Annakshetra, it is our ardent belief that women’s literacy is key to a village’s overall development and progress. We have been, therefore, mobilizing and empowering women to become self-reliant and independent.

So far, we have empowered more than 2500 tribal women by providing functional, digital and financial literacy. These have instilled them with confidence to work in the world outside their homes and hearths. A number of women trained at Govardhan Annakshetra have also started their entrepreneurial journey in making and packaging traditional food items and tribal handicrafts.

Helping the Helpless

Acute hunger and malnutrition is a major challenge for many developing countries, including India. Govardhan Annakshetra is working towards the elimination of hunger and malnutrition amongst vulnerable sections, chiefly, children, poor people, women in many of Maharashtra’s backward districts.

Annakshetra makes free distribution of groceries in the villages of Bandhan and Nane in the Wada taluka of Maharashtra in eco-friendly packaging, mitigating food worries of helpless widows, single women and the elderly. These have gone a long way in improving their health, and in reducing the mortality rates in these villages.

Farmer Empowerment Programs

Impacted the lives of 1300+ tribal farmers below the poverty line by providing training and access to crop inputs, seeds, and machinery, ensuring nutritional security.

Farmer Empowerment Programs

Maharashtra is blessed with strong, hard-working and resourceful farmers. Govardhan Annakshetra aspires to empower them further in order to strengthen their income opportunities, raise their knowledge on expert agricultural practises, teach them the use of technology to drive higher crop yields, and fortify their risks against the vagaries of weather and nature.

Our teams have been teaching them both traditional and modern methods of growing indigenous crops, building their understanding on climate changes, supply-chain management, demand and market analysis. These have increased their yield and have also increased their annual income.

Free Meals Distribution in Slums

At the very heart of India’s busiest metropolis lie sprawling slums. Kamrajnagar in Ghatkopar, Mumbai is one such slum, home to thousands of people who struggle with poverty and hunger.

Moved by their living conditions, Govardhan Annakshetra initiated food distribution programs in the slums. The aim is to ensure that no one goes hungry in these slums. Meals are prepared in our mega kitchens and transported to temples near the slums, providing 300+ meals daily to people gathered there. This initiative addresses the issue of community and the individuals benifiting from the program.

Our future goals involve including chapatis to our nutrition rich menu of masala rice, khicadi and bisi bēle bhāt.
